Superclub Studios and & Gallery, Edinburgh present Ipso Facto, an exhibition of new works by Richard Taylor and Ross Hamilton Frew that brings together eight months of correspondences on the subject of collaborative practice through drawing.
"Through a shared interest in one another's practice, Taylor and Frew have observed, read and learned from each other, and by establishing a blog in early 2011 they have not only mapped out their progress but have also given an insight into their artistic process. This process will be explored further in a discussion led by Andrew Bryant from the blogging platform Artists talking in mid-November.
Exhibiting for the first time together, Taylor and Frew both use drawing as a process to initiate and drive ideas. Richard creates pencilled imaginations and realises them through installation, film work and
performance, and Ross's work, embedded in the act of making marks, deals with the physicality of the page and the parameters set by each surface he works upon. Through a carefully selected body of work both artists will allow the other's practice to bleed in to that of their own, creating a single body from two separate practices."
